I’m Matthew Snider, and I’m currently diving deep into the world of networking and network architecture. As I explore this field, I’m not only building the technical skills needed to design, configure, and manage networks, but I’m also discovering how critical networking is to everything we do in the digital world. The combination of hands-on problem-solving, logical structuring, and real-time troubleshooting makes networking an exciting and constantly evolving space, and I’m eager to master these skills.
My journey so far has been focused on building a solid foundation in networking concepts, from VLAN segmentation to firewall management. I’ve been experimenting with Proxmox for virtualization and using pfSense for VLAN control and routing. Setting up and managing networks in a home lab environment has given me a practical understanding of how data moves, how different devices communicate, and how network security plays a crucial role in protecting systems.
Beyond just setting up networks, I’m gaining a deeper understanding of how they operate at scale. From routing protocols to subnetting, every decision in a network affects its performance, security, and reliability. I’ve been learning how to optimize traffic flow, configure firewalls, and implement best practices to ensure a well-structured network. The hands-on experience of troubleshooting misconfigurations, optimizing connections, and testing different setups has been an invaluable part of my learning process.
One of my goals is to build networks that are not only efficient but also scalable and secure. Through continuous learning and hands-on experimentation, I’m improving my understanding of network design, security implementation, and the role of automation in managing large-scale infrastructure. Whether it’s configuring VLANs, setting up VPNs, or optimizing firewall rules, I’m always looking for ways to refine my skills and deepen my knowledge.
As I continue my journey in networking, I’m excited to explore advanced topics like SDN (Software-Defined Networking), automation with Ansible, and enterprise-level networking solutions. There’s always more to learn, and I’m looking forward to applying my growing expertise to real-world projects.
Stay tuned as I continue to expand my knowledge in network architecture, security, and automation. I’m excited to see how I can use my skills to design and optimize networks that make a difference. Thank you for following along with my journey!
